Besides beasts, all vintage things on wheels, and traveling a huge part of my makeup is music…all music. Though I thrive on girl rock, Nirvana and Dwight Yoakam, I listen to just about anything in the right setting. So instead of taking pretty cocktail pictures and drinking them…I am going to start sharing recipes with music suggestions to dance to while shakin’ em up!
This first post is inspired by the Ojai Olive Oil Company and Cotton Jones song ‘Man Climbs out of the Winter’. While this whole album, and honestly everything they produce is excellent, this song just seemed to fit too well with the day and drink. A dry hot drive down a dusty road ending at the orchard and getting schooled on olive oil by Tim the handsome pruner of trees. Not only is the olive oil elegant but the balsamic vinegar imported from Modena is unreal. The balsamic is the key to this cocktail; smooth and sweet with a hint of bitter vinegar.
The Drink:
All in the same shaker add:
1oz fresh Ojai oranges
1oz pomegranate juice
.5oz Ojai Olive Oil Company Fig Balsamic
1.5oz Silver Tequila
shake, shake, shake over ice and strain into a coupe drizzled with balsamic and sprinkled with finely grated orange zest
